Discussion on review of National Cooperative Policy 2069
On Monday, the federation held discussions with the chairpersons and representatives of cooperative banks, thematic central cooperative unions and Upatyaka district associations with the objective of giving suggestions on behalf of the campaign in the review of the National Cooperative Policy 2069 drafted by the National Cooperative Development Board.
FNCCI President Minraj Kandel said that the cooperative policy should be discussed as it is the guideline of the cooperative movement. He said that he would suggest to include the spirit of the campaign and the spirit of the constitution in the policy. From the discussion, it has been concluded that the policy should be issued only after extensive discussions with the cooperative workers.
Incumbent Chairman Keshav Badal said that various studies have shown that cooperatives have been making significant contribution in the program of multidimensional poverty reduction. While reviewing the implementation of the National Cooperative Policy, 2069 BS, he stressed on the need to accurately analyze the achievements of the campaign in line with the objectives of the policy. Om Devi Malla, senior vice-president of the federation and member of the global board of the International Federation of Cooperatives, said that suggestions could be collected from all the seven states. He said that the issue of where to reach and how to reach should be clearly covered.
Vice-Chairman Ramesh Pokharel said that further discussions should be held for the restructuring of the cooperative movement and the policy should be made realistic. Director of the Federation and Chairman of the National Cooperative Bank, KV Upreti, stressed on the importance of data collection while drafting the policy, adding that everyone can work together for the same. FNCCI General Manager Chitra Kumari Thamsuhang Subba, while giving a presentation on the policy, said that the campaign should be thought of in a new way to guide the future of the campaign. He said that it was necessary to rewrite the background, current situation, main challenges, vision, long-term goals and objectives in the draft policy.
Paritosh Poudyal, chairman of NEFSCOON, also said that the procedure should be rewritten as it is included in the policy. Director of the Federation Tek Prasad Chaulagai, Rajendra Poudel, President of the Central Herbal Association Ishwari Raj Pandey, President of the Central Cooperative Union of Agriculture, Wives, Vegetables and Fruits Vinod Parajuli, President of the Nepal Central Consumer Cooperative Association Deepak Raj Poudel, General Secretary of the Nepal Health Central Cooperative Union Khem Subedi, Nepal Central Secretary of the Multipurpose Cooperative Union Madhav Timalsina, Director of the National Cooperative Bank and Chairman of the Kathmandu District Cooperative Union Gyan Bahadur Tamang, CEO of the National Cooperative Bank CA Badri Guragai, Deputy General Manager of the Federation Babul Khanal and media person Yadav Humagai made suggestions.
